H1ray rolling Jhatform..... ROBERT WOODS of Innesmore, Ontario travelled a considerable distance to try his luck in the annual horsehoe pitching competition at Brooklin Fair. Sunday's inclement weather didn't stop many local residents from trying their luck.at winning the hay bale rolling contest at the fair, nor the large crowd of spec- tators who cheered them on. There were trophies up for grabs In each of the three classes: Powder Puff, open and one for local business, organizations or clubs. The winner of the powder puff class, and recipient of Brooklin Flour Milîs trophy,, was the local team of Colette McFadden, Mary Jane Phoenix, Kim Tate and Kathy Heib. Quite an accomplishment since the bale of wet hay weighed in at some 1,000 pounds. The open class was won by Bruce, Dan and Henry Hannam and George Sonley. They were presented with trophies donated by W.J. Medland and Son. The big winners of the day were the Taber men, Fred and his three sons Steve, Charlies and Jeff, who not only won the business class representing their Griffen Crest Farms of Brooklin, but also the overal 4eat between the three win- ners. Trophies for each of these wins were donated by Gary Young Plumbing and Heating. Organizers of the event took pity on the so-called weaker sex in the final heat and allowed the powder puff entry to use a lighter, less rain- soaked bail of hay. Presentations to the winners were made by Miss Brooklin Spring Fair, Patti Van Der Zwet and Gary Young.
