The storm caused flooding in ap- proximately 800 other bornes in Durham Region, and those wbo suf- fered damages, including Drew, were paid $250 dollars under the Region's ex gratia program to cover dlean-up costs. An insurance adjuster hired by Region carried out an in- vestigation, and "the insurer could find no responsibility on the part of the Region for the flooding of August 27, and tberefore could not accept the dlaim," according to a recent council1 report.
