This type of overnight accom- modation is particularily popular in Europeafl countries, especiaily Great Britain, but Koeslag feels the idea wiih soon become common- place in Canada. Already, traveilers can pick Up a book which lists ail the bed and breakfast locations in Canada, or Ontario; which has the most locations. "There' s more and more people travelling in Europe these days, who are staying in bed and break- fast," says Koeslag. "Like us, they're saying, 'why don't we have a bed and breakfast?' According to Koeslag, a town this size in Britain would have 15 or more shared homes, while her home is the only one in this area that she knows of that is a bed and De Gruchy wi*ll loo kfo rgolId in last chance ai CNE event FROM PAGE 10 gaited western peasure. DeGruchy is hoping for a good year in the 1987 season that just started as this wilh be his hast year in equitation because of his age. Once he turns 19 next May, he wilh have to settle for teaching his sport to others. But now he and his paren- ts ive in Myrtie, that should not prove to' be a problern. She is deaconess with the national office of the Women's M issionary Society. The men's choir favored us with a lovely selection "I Shahl not be Moved." Powrie delivered a very fine message which was relevant to the mission of our church, our whole purpose as Christians is to strengthen the body of Jesus Christ around the worhd. In com- municating the gospel to the worhd, first of ahi we have to iearn how to communicate, our concerns should t be for the weIh being of ail people, we have to learn to listen, and to remember that we are al missionaries - regardless of age. We are looking forward to Powrie's return to us in late August. Next Sunday, we will have as guest minister, Rev. Donald Johnson from Crystal City, Manitoba. We welcome any visitors or friends to join us in worship at 11:15 a.m. each Sunday morning throughout the summer months. The summer church services are being held at Glen Major each Sun day evening throughout Juiy and August, including Labor Day weekend, at 7:30 p.m. with Caude Sirnmonds conducting the services. My thanks to Rose Heron for a iob wehl done in keeping you infor- rned during my absence. eothi Not too much news to reor ti week. Guess everyone is trying to room to roam. DeGruchy has already started this season off on a winning note. On the July 4 weekend, he travelled to a show in Syracuse, N.Y. and earned two fourth-place finishes. What pheased him most was placing eighth out of 23 in the championshlP class which pits aduhts and juniors together, beating out his teacher of four years. He also won the gold medai in equitation in a medahlion class sponsored by Saddie and Bridai Magazine. DeGruchy said the shows scheduled for this season have changed format, whereby they have been bunched together, rather than being spread out over a period of time. "The shows are not starting until find an escape from the heat. Thot: The kindly work that falis today mjay bear its fruit tomorrow. the end of July this year and many aiÎe scheduied for the same time or the same weekend," he said. "There are a lot I won't-be able to attend at ail. " He does, however, want to make sure he wili be ready for the Sad- dlebred Classic in Stouffville, the Ottawa Royal Winter Fair, and of course, the Toronto C.N.E. where he won the silver medai iast year.' "Kris and I won the silver medal in equitation at the C.N.E. last year and this year we're going for the gold," smiled DeGruchy, "It's our hast shot at it." DeGruchy is totally absorbed in his equestrian ife. In his "younger" days, he was lead coun- sellor at a summer horse camp for kids at Rolling His through the 'Y'. He is now junior chairman of the Canadian-American Sad- dlebred Association and as such writes articles for their newsietter magazine. DeGruchy was honored this spring as the recipient of the Canada Award denoting his ex- cellence and prof iciency as an equestrian. "Wilth the amount of tourists coming through Whitby now, I think we are underserving them considerabhy, especially now that we have Cullen G'ardens," says Koesiag, who have been living in Whitby since 1959.
