The awards, given for excellence in building renovation, will be han- ded out at an October ceremony in Toronto. Robert Tmej, information officer for the Ministry of Housing, says Pearson Lanes was nominated by Town of Whitby planning director Bob Short. "We selected that particular projeet b ecause it's one of the few renewal projects that was unique to the municipality," said Short, outlining the relocation of two older homes' that took place before renovation work began. Short said the project maintains the older character of the street through its architecture. "LIt was a unique renewal projeet," said Short. Pearson Lanes was one of about 40 entries in the non-residential category of the Winners will receive a bronze sculpture, "The Carpenter,"' at the awards ceremony.
