"lWe will be looking at the general social service systems presently established and hopefully will corne back home with some new ideas which we can implement to assist people at home," said Cubitt. He said'senior citizens were the fastest growing segment of the population throughout the world and hie was interested in how his European counterparts deal with such areas as support services and homes for the aged. Cubitt also feels the subject of adequately caring' for children is of high priority. The tour will include Amster- dam, Brussels, France and Lon- dond, and with only an average of three days i each locale, Cubitt admits to an "«extremely busy itinerary.71 Although all the details of the trip have not been passed along to the Canadian delegation, Cubitt says alI four countries have writtenad- vising of contact people, and an- ticipates the site visits will be well planned. "lIt looks as though the knowledge to be gained will be excellent," said Cubitt. Condo owners wanted for associatio n The Durham Region Con- dominium Association is en- couraging Whitby condo oWners to attend the October meeting of the newly formed association which will be held at 1235 Radom St., Pickering. In late March, a small group of concerned condominium owners in Pickering joined forces to fight for improvements to the garbage removal service by Laidlaw Waste Disposals at Pickering con- dominiums. The association grew out of this initial action, and president Angela Kirby is now hoping to involve both condominium owners and property owners in Whitby and Oshawa in the association. Although Kirby isn't aware that there is a similar garbage disposal service probleni in either of these two areas, any similar problems facing condominium owners will be addressed by the association such as snow clearing, street lighting and sewers. "These are areas where con- domimuum homeowners are paying twice for the services, through taxes and maintenance fees," says Kirby in a recent press release. "We need one strong voice serving the needs and interests of con- dominium homeowners in the Durham Region." For more information, cail 839- 5264.
