Columbus UCWto hold show Columbus United Church Women will be presenting their third an- nual fall fashion show on Thursday, Sept. 17 in the church hall. There will be 10 models featuring clothes for the working woman, although there will be outfits displayed for every taste and mode of life. Fashions for the show are from Brooklin Village Shoppe with commentary by Connie Heron. Pringle Creek school open On Sept. 8, the new Pringle Creek Public School opened its doors to students from kindergarten to Gr. 7. Crossing guards have been ap- pointed for two locations: just south of Anderson and Manning; and Manning and Ribblesdale. Guards will be on duty from 8:30 a.m. until school has begun, and from 3:30 un- til 4 p.m. in the afternoon. They will also assist the students at lunch hour from 11:30 a.m. (kindergarten dismissal) until noon, and from 12:30 until 1p.m. Since construction crews were working to complete everything necessary prior to Sept. 8, teachers didn't have access to their classrooms until the week of Aug. 31. As a result, the open house scheduled for Thursday evening, Sept. 3 was postponed until Sept. 17 from 7-8:30 p.m. Telephone lines have been in- stalled (430-2488 and 430-2489) Principal is Ron Coward, vice- principal Brian Barker and secretary Betty Green. FULL GOSPE L The Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship in Canada will hold their monthly dinner meeting Mon- day, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Bloor St., E. in Oshawa. HOBBY SHOW Whitby Seniors' Activity Centre on Brock St. S. will be holding their fifth annual hobby craft and flower show on Sunday, Sept. 13. Doors will be open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. This year the show features an antique clock collection by Earl Pascoe; American buggies by Gordon Law of Oshawa, a Port Perry Hobby Club exhibit, a saw collection, and many others plus a show of fresh flowers. Refreshmen- ts will be available. GOLF TOURNEY Whitby firefighters will hold a golf tournament at Thunderbird Golf Club Sept. 16 to raise funds to fight muscular dystrophy. Entry fee is $40 (includes steak dinner and golf) and a hole-in-one prize is available. SALE The Durham chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be holding its seventh annual multi- family yard sale Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christ Church, located at Mary and Hillcrest Streets in Oshawa. Funds raised at the yard sale will be donated to cystic fibrosis research. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Eastview Boys' and Girls' Club needs adult volunteers this winter at youth fun programs in Oshawa, Bowmanville and Whitby for boys or girls 8 to 14. Free Press photo Best of'87 at gallery The Whitby Station Gallery will be presenting the best of fall '87 in a "Gallery of Style" on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1 and 3:30 p.m. at the Whitby Curling Club. The shows will feature fashions from downtown Whitby stores including Eleven Joseph, Collections by Sharon, Judy's, Patricia's Gallery & Boutique, Mercan- tile Department Store, Doreen's Lingerie, Norma Peterson, Peaches 'N Jeans, Garbo's Boutique and Agnes Disney's Fashionable half sizes. Gift certificates wul also be given from participating stores. Tickets are $15 which in- clude refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.
