Brunelle was responding to con- cerns raised by William Lovelock or 121 Kendalwood Rd. who ap- peared before council Monday night. Lovelock said the lighted signs onthe buildingbother the home owners that face the signs. "I 1don't know howweca ngo back and say take out the lights. 1 don't know any legal way we can required (hem to take the lighting down.- said Brunelle. Lovelock claimed that during discussion on the addition there was no mention of lighting on the easterly.side of the building. Councillor Gerryý Emm agreed with Lovelock saying when the site plan was approved "some thought there would be no lights.- But both Emm and Brunelle ad- ded the lights are legal. Emm also informed Lovelock a timer has been installed in the ad- dition which will turn the lights off at 10: 45 each night. At the administrative committee meeting last week. Town planner Paul Rycroft explained that con struction of the addition involved a problem with grading. The building was going to be three feet lower in the ground than shown in the original plans. so regrading had to take place. Rycroft related to committee and Lovelock that work was stopped at the site and the grading was revised to address the problem. -So it is quite a bit lower (han originally intended,. .said Rycroft. Canopy lights were (o havg.been in- stalled but because of the lower building height. facial lights were instead installed on the east side of the building. Councillor Joe Bugelli had poin- ted out that minutes of a F~eb. 2 meeting stated that lights on the east side were approved by council1. "Facial lights are a lot different than canopy lights.- said Lovelock. who later argued' with Mayor Bob Attersley about whether the lights were now on or off. "The lights are there whether you like it or not.- said Brunelle at last week's meeting, adding that the changes were - not unreasonable»- He told Lovelock that he agreed there was a lighting proble m but -you can't take them away. lie also mentioned the timer that would control the lighting. -Isn't that lovely?- responded Lovelock. who claimed the plaza developer -was not following the rules.
