She was born in Lindsay, daughter of Eunice Warburton, and married Paul Frank in 1950. JANET VISSER Janet Visser of Whitby died on October 28, 1987, at Whitby General Hospital, in her 81st year. She was born on October 16, 1907 in Folsgare, Friesland, Holland. She married Gerben Visser on May 7, 1931, in Friesland, Helland. A resident of Whitby for 34 years, she was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Reformed Church and the Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Visser is survived by sons Herb of Brooklin, John of Whitby, Michael of Thunder Bay and daughters Lillian (Mrs. Hammers) of Whitby, Vicky (Mrs. Hardy) of Leskard, Alice (Mrs. Sintniklaas) of Whitby, Ann (Mrs. Van Staveren) of Whitby and Helen (Mrs. Loyst) of Oshawa. Also sur- vived by two brothers in Holland and one brother in Ottawa. She was predeceased by her husband in 1953, two sisters and three brothers. Rev. Wayne Joosse officiated the funeral ceremony at Emmanuel Reformed Church on October 31, 1987. Mrs. Visser rested at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel on October 30. Interment at Groveside Cemetery. She was a bookkeeper and Bank of Montreal employee in Whitby for 17 years and Donald Travel for 10 years. • She is survived by her husband, Peggy Lockey of Lindsay, Dorothy Lefevre of Ottawa, Dora O'Brien of Oshawa. Betty Lindfoot of Cobourg, Jack Warburton of Lindsay and seven nephews and two nieces. The memorial service was held from the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel on October 30, 1987, with Rev. J.S. McClure. Cremation followed. A Whitby resident will receive a letter of support, but no financial backing, from the Town of Whitby when he travels to Africa in 1988. Grand Hogg has been selected to participate in Operation Raleigh, a four-year, round-the-world ex- pedition that began in Nov. 1984. The 24-year-old Hogg will travel to Africa for three months in 1989 as part of Operation Raleigh which takes place in 16 phases during the four-year period. The trip will cost $8,500. Hogg appeared before council last week and was informed that the Town's policy is to financially support individuals or groups who have eà rned the right to attend sports-related and cultural com- petitions. Hogg is not eligible for financial assistance. However, the Town will endorse Hogg's efforts, which Hogg says will help him raise the $2,500. Hogg told council one of his projects will be the translocation of black rhinos. "There were 20,000 of the animais 20 years ago and now that is down to 400 because of poachers." said Hogg. The rhinos will be moved from one park to another where Hogg will assist with the building of a confinèment for the rhinos. "I feel fortunate to be involyed in something of this stature", he said.
