Free Press photo ,fi :4 À la le 'Quality' parade coining and more entries overall - that's what area residents can expect in the Whitby Santa Claus parade to be held Saturday, Dec. 5. Bob Stanley, co-chairman with Gord Attersiey of the parade committee of the Whitby Jaycees who organize the event, promises "somiething; a littie different this year" as interest and applications for entry continue to mount. Stanley, coordinating the parade for the fourth straight year, says this edition will not only be bigger, but 'better quality." The parade route is the same as last year - a 10 a.m. start from St. John's School on Giffard St., along Dundas St. to the four corners and then south on Brock St. to Rotary Centennial Park. Stanley says parking wiIl aiso be restricted, except for residents and rnembers of the nearby church, fromn the starting area of the parade to avoid confusion and delay at the start. Nine bands, up from seven last year, wiIl take part as well as five majorette groups, up fronm four last year. And there should be about 30 floats, including the finish from the big guy in red and white on the Rotary float. A new and exciting feature this year is the appearance of one of the top skateboarders in the world - Whitby's Mark Brazier.
