PAGE 8, WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 1987 whitbybuslmess New store includes $100,000 processor MARIE LANDMAN operates the Mini Lab 20 film processor in her new store Foto Masters - The Image Centre. The Mini Lab 20 can develop and print a role of film in under 30 minutes. By BRYCE COOPER Marie and Cor Landman are the operating owners of Foto Masters Image Center, a new store at the Whitby mall. Foto Masters is part of Kodak's new chain of retail stores known as Image Centers which sell exclusively Kodak products. The Landmans have placed a lot of faith in the Kodak name and Marie Landman feels very con- fident. "People have confidence in Kodak. It's the most well known in Canada," she says. The Landmans operated a commercial studio in Peterborough for 35 years after arriving in Canada from Holland in 1955. The move to Whitby has brought on a lot of changes, especially the store design which was done by Kodak at a cost of more than $40,000. Foto Masters also holds * one of the newest and most advan- ced film processing machines in Canada. The mini-lab 20, one of two in the country, is a computer con- trolled film processor developed to work with the Kodak Color Watch system. The mini-lab 20 is linked to com- puters in Toronto and Rochester to ensure that every roll of film is developed to Kodak's standards. "No mistakes are possible. You don't have to worry about strong blues, reds or greens," says Marie Landman, quite proud of her new $100,000 processor. The Landmans have kept one feature from their old store, a por- trait studio. "We do portraits, and passports, of course, as well as videotaping tor the last will and testament, and if people want to have something videotaped for insurance reasons," says Marie Landman, explaining how the video age has affected an old business. Cor Landman is featuring a few cameras of the past in his display of used cameras for sale. He is a collector of old cameras and is even displaying some of his favorites, which include a Lanhof 220,.Makina and his true favorite, a 1951 Plaubeu which he describes as "one of the best cameras of their time." Both Marie and Cor feel they can beat the competition in the Whitby mall which now allows consumers to choose between two one-hour services and two studios. Breckles earns Ontario award Thomas H.
