DISCOVERY At Harwood Secondary School on Satu'day, May 14, Captain Archie Hodge of the Hamilton Scourge Society will make a presentation on the discovery, in 1975 in Lake Ontario, of two War of 1812 battleships. The audio- visual presentation will be held by the Ajax Scuba Club in association with the Hamilton- Scourge Foundation ("Hamilton" and "Scourge" are the names of the ships). DAY CAMP Registration for this summer's Christmas Seal day camp for asthmatic children is now underway, with 25 available vacancies for children aged between 5 and 11 at the Camp Samac (Oshawa) facility. Funded by the Durham Region Lung Association, the camp will run for 2 seven-day sessions - Monday, July 11 to Sunday, July 17 (5 to 8-year-olds) and Monday, August 8 to Sunday, August 14 (9 to 12-year-olds). Prior registration is essential. Door-to-door bus transportation is available for children resident in Oshawa and Whitby. Registration fees for each seven-day period have been set at $50 per child (includes transportation), and for families with more than one child attending, this rate is reduced to $25 for the second child. ARTS CELEBRATION The Oshawa District Council for the Arts is celebrating its 25th anniversary, with two weekends of celebrations, the first on May 14 (10:30 to 4:30 p.m.) and May 15 (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) at the arts resource center. There will be performances by local groups on both days, including The In Ta Kids Dance Company of Whitby, to perform from 4. to 4:30 p.m., May 14.
