Ben Travers, who wrote- tbe play when he was 90, made up characters wbo are somewbat exaggerated but a story that 18 a revealing -Iook at modern relationships. Widower Victor Keene (played by Jim Renshaw) marries widow Aima- for ber money, and she marries bim for bis "companionsbip" and "notbing else." Aima is ffigid,. turned pff sex by a negative experiepnce in ber first marri*age, and Victor could care less about IVt as be is muÛcb older. Victor's son Aubrey (played by Scott Griffin), a ne'er -do well, appears on tbe scene with a girl of "questionable" morality named Ella (Rose Masters). He bas quit yet another job and Ella needs money to pay ber rent or be forced into prostitution. In ber shrewisb manner, Aima kicks tbe men out and tentatively queries Ella about ber enýjoyment of sex: The annual meeting of tbe Whitbylchapter of tbe Heart and Stroke Foundation will be held at * the poélice building on Rossland Rd.,on Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 pim. LolIy loVes "it." too, and Aima, curiosity awoken, asks ber about ber sex life -and wby she enjoys ber promiscuity. LoIly bas tbree maie boarders and eliits more than money from tbese men. AIma's repulsion is fast disappearinïg by tbe time Victor returns. Altbough Victor is besitant, Aima coaxes bim into tbe bedroom. Act two- opens witb Victor in a smokirlg jacket, enjoying a cigar and whisky. Aima appears to be a cbanged woman, and sbe wants more of wbat sbe bas decided is quite wonderful. Victor does not. The next morming, disgusted witb ber busband's lack of entbusiasm, sbe, leaves for a tbree-week vacation. Sbe takes an Italian lover wbile Victor fools around witb Lolly Tucker at bomne.' Howeveri Aima discovers tbat tbe Italian only wants ber money, and decides she is not attractive enougb for It" anymorè. Victor and Aima cannot go back to their former platonic relationship, and run off to the bedroom. Ilouse located at 387. Renshaw performed master- fully and gave Victor a genuine Englisb gentleman's cbaracter, witb a realistic and modemn day touch. Frances Helyar nicely captured tbe essence of Aimas tormented personality,. mixed% emotions, revulsion and curiosity. Bey Mcflwain (LolIy Tucker), Rose Masters '(Ella)ý and Scott Griffin (Aubrey) were solid and engaging as supporting characters. Scene cbanges were performed effectively by Barb Farrow in the cbaracter of Aima's bousekeeper, Mrs. Holley. Bustling on and off the stage, tidying up tbe living room, sipping Victor's wbisky dregs and dancing witb a rose in bier teeth, sbe created some mucb appreciated comic relief between scenes..
