Jim Wiseman defeated Don Stewart and Drummond Whiàte, both of WI-tby, on the second ballot at the NDP nomination meeting last Monday night. Wiseman, a founding member of Pickering/Ajax Citizens Toget- ber for the Environment (PACT), said bis "continued involvement with the community" helped him secure the nomination. "This is my first shot federally and it will take a lot of hard work," said Wiseman, who teaches economics at Ajax High Scbool. "One part of the economy will take advantage (of the deal) while one will pay," said Wiseman, who added that 75 per cent of goods traded between the two counitries is already tariff-free.
