The total "pupil load1' that the new French and English school will accommodate is 1,232 students. The school is an "open concept" design with separate French and English education sections. The other school, - an elementary school, is a complementary design to the se- condary school, an open concept building with expanding lunch room/stage, music room/general purpose room te meet grant approval. As well, child care facilities have been provided for in both schools, with separate entrances. The schools are to be part of a planned complex including a church, soccer fields, a track,ý playground and park land. "The Town of Whitby has definitely been a part of the team," said Whitby trustee Tom Qidman of the planing process for the new high school. At the final meeting of the separate board last night, trustees voted a "catch-up" amnount of $2,300 (to be added in the faîl after elections), followed by a 4.5 per cent increase in 1988, 1989 and 1990 to bring the trustee's honorarium up to $9,998 by 1990/91. "The increase is stilI behind the times, compared with honorariums (given to comparable boards elsewhere) for this year," said Pickering trustee Kevin Ashe.
