Whitby won 2-0 in the final against Bowmanville, after tying Markham 2-2, and then defeating Scugog 9-1, Ajax 7-0 and Simcoe 8-0. The atom select soccer team from Whitby edged Lincoln 1-0 in overtime to capture the annual Port Perry tournament Aug. 6 and 7. Whitby won a game and tied another to move into the semi-final which they won 3-1 over Bowmanville in overtime. Allowing only two goals in the entire tournament were goal- tenders Dave Morrison, Dan Stacey Trucking and Moose Lodge split two hard-fought games on Aug. 7 in the Oshawa and District Service Clubs Old-Timers Lob Ball League. Truckers, from Whitby, won the opener of the doubleheader 5-3 thanks to solid defence and timely- hitting. Moose Lodge won the second game 7-6. Bob Cook had four hits and Bob Wiswell hit a homerun for Stacey in the doubleheader. Gary Stewart and Greg Spears had three hits. Gil Bonneau had three hits for Moose Lodge and Chas Ross two.
