Bob White ELECTION '88 - HYDRO COMMISSION Expansion will be big issue Expansion is the -biggest issue facing the hydro commission, says Bill Lawler, a candidate for one of Whitby's four hydro commission seats. "Expansion is very costly. (Among other projeets) the sub- stations just north of Groveside cemetery have to be replaced. There's-a lot of replacement (to be done)," he said. However, Lawler said, "Hydro is the best value for the dollar. (The high cost is attributed to) careless use of electricity." Rates could be lower with care- fui use of hydro, he added. Communication with the Town was another issue Lawler ident- ified as important. "Communication with the Town is a big thing, we need to know (what they are doing) to set budgets," Lawler said. 'We can always improve. We have a good commission and we do our best." Lawler is married with two eilidren, six grandchildren and bas been a lifelong resident of Whitby."
