GRACE MANTZ Grace Elizabeth Gibson Mantz of Whitby died on. Sunday, November 27, 1988 at Wellesley General Hospital. She was 80. She was born in London, Ontario. She was married to Carl Mantz in 1924. Mrs. Mantz, a Whitby resident for more than 50 years, assisted her husband running the Whitby Weekly News from 1955 to 1966. She was heavily involved in crafts, sculpture and painting in oils, and created most of her own clothes as an accomplished tailor. She could make an entire outfit, from clothes to jewelry, shoes excepted, for herself, and made made handicrafts for sale in the community and in support of various groups. She was an active member of the Whitby and Oshawa Seniors' Centres, especially involved with seniors' square dance clubs, and was one of the founders of the Durham Squares club. She was described as a hard and enthusiastic worker and supporter of her family, friends and community through her time and artistic talents. She is survived by her husband, Carl Mantz, son Dr. Douglas Mantz and his wife Eileen of Sackville, N.B., grandson Jonathan Alexander, brother Walter of Sarnia. She was predeceased by sister Eva, and brothers Ernest, Frank and Arthur. The funeral service was held from the Town Funeral Home on November 30, 1988, Rev. J.M. Smith conducted. The successful applicant will be required to carry out various traffic and transit studies as assigned by the Traffic and Transit Co-ordinator. These studies will include ail forms of traffic studies, investigation of operational problems, changes to the Traffic By-Law, collection and analysis of traffic and transit data information and summaries as required. The successful applicant will also be responsible for-the day to day operation of the public transit system which will include daily revenue collections and banking, on-time performance, complaint answering, response and format recording, and recommendation for system improvement, as well as provide route information to the public. In addition, the applicant will be required to assist with the administration of the Adult School Crossing Guard program. The successful applicant must also be in possesion of a valid Ontario Motor Vehicle Class "G" Drivers Licence. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with the public and other staff members, should posses strong interpersonal skills and have a keen sense of accuracy, thoroughness and detail.
