Owner Wayne Witzke feit there was a market for the radio- controlled hobby, and has had overwhelming response since bis opening in Octoer o f 1988 on Byron St. S. (Lord Byron Lane) ini downtown Whitby. Witzke bas two partners, and between them, be said that there is qualified advice available on the newest technology, modifica- tions, repairs and racing. For the radio-control hobby enthusiast "I've been in business ail My life. The more we cbecked into the radio controlled car, the more the interest bas grown. The hobby is just starting in southern Ontario," Witzke said. Reckreations selîs a variety of on road, off road cars, buggies, trucks, dragsters, boats and planes in a wide range of prices. "The number one seller is the "IlIornet," an off-road racer. It is a basic starter kit," Witzke said. Witzke said most parts and accessories corne from the U.S., while most of the cars come from Japan. Like an auto dealership, Reck- reations will take trade-ins, do repairs and modifications to cars, Witzke said. For the future, Witzke said that Reckreations hopes to start producing its own p arts and accessories, and establish racing tracks in Durham for the shop initiated racing tearn.
