Darryl Lewis scored twice as Whitby won 6-0 in the first game against Leaside. Scott Young, Paul Gray, Mark Haynes ýind Chris Kerr had singles. Brian Crouch scored twice and Haynes had the other in a 3-1 win over Unionville. In the final, Kerr scored two goals while Young and Gray had singles in a 4-0 win over Woodbridge. Markham won the B cham- pionship in the l3th annual tour- nament. Dana Smith and Leigh-Anne Connelly will skate in -the pre- p reliminary ladies division; Mlanie Crawford, Bridget Cope- land and Christa Robinson in preliminary ladies; Nicholas Brann in preliminary men; and Maria McKmnnon in juvenile ladies. The competition includes clubs from Whitby, Oshawa Orono, Bowmanville, Newcastle, Port Perr, Uxbridge., Cobourg and PrHope. The comnpetition, held friday and Saturday, is open to skaters who have passed their Canskate proficiency badge, through to senior level skaters. Leswick swims to victory lii freestyle Julie 'Leswick of the Whitby Iroquois Swim Club had 'a first- place finish in the 200-nietre freestyle at the. Eastern Cup (Junior National) swim competi- tion held last weekend. Four gold for Bayford Shayne Bayford won four gold and two silver medals to lead an impressive showing by the Whitby Roller Skating Cub at an invitational in Blurington Jan. 28 and 29. Bayford won in freshman figures, sophomore figures, sophomore freestyle and silver dance. He was second in fresh- man freestyle and world class freestyle. Stephen Pachalzuk won gold in freshman dance and had su ver medals in sophomore freestyle and freshman figures. Cina Schmidt-Hansen won gold in sophomore freestyle and Carole Simpson won classic figures. Jeff Kidd won the junior/senior freestyle, was second in mon 's 1oops and junior'senior figures and third in world class fresstyle. Rebecca Woodhouse won si Iver in beginner freestyle and Myrit Flieler bronze in ladies loops. Toni Mulgrew earned bronze in esquire figures and Jerry Hood piked up three silver medals, for novice figures, sopho- nmore dance and international II dance. Peewee Bs runn ers -up Whitby minor peewee Bs were second best in a tournament in Woolwich Jan. 14-15, falling 3-O to the host team in the final.
