Overton won this match-up. The Whitby club will host a large tournament, to include U.S. competitors, at O'Neill high sehool in Oshawa April 22-23. Nancy McGreevy scored three goals in a 6-5 loss to Caledonia in the championship final. Whitby had reached the final with wins over Richmond Hill, St. Catharines and Caledonia. Tobi Wood scored four goals in a 6-3 win over the Caledonia while McGreevy had three in the 9-5 win over St. Catharines. Whitby won a bronze medal in a tournament in Ajax in late March. Wood scored two goals in a 5-4 win over Mississauga in the bronze medal gamie. Whitby had opened with a 4-0 win over Ajax, Wood and McGreevy each getting two goals. I object to ha:ving to pay to watch them, on the excuse that itfs a playoff gaine. I think the league is going too far. We, as parents, pay for everything -- ice-tirne, equilpnent, goalie equipinent, which is bought for each team, trophies at the end of the year. The only thing we do not pay for is the sweaters which are supplied, by the sponsors. On one of my son's hockey teanis, we even had to chip in for a gai e stick because the league would not supply one. I do not expect ta, get a free ride. But this is ridiculous. If you speak up, make waves, do something or dlisagree with them, the league black llsts your child, although they wiil never admit ta it. In this league if's not know, it's who you know if your child is to, advance. Personaily I arn fed up, and I'm pot the, only one. I think someone should look into the way this league is run.
