Strong acting for this story of young romance makes 'Picnic' a firat-rate endeavor by the award- winning Courthouse Theatre members. A powerful perfor- mance is given by Steve Foote as Hal Carter. Foote is completely convincing, capturing his c harac- ter's inner turmoil. Pamn Dyck, as the main female character, Madge Owens, effec- tively conveys to the audience the young girl's search for iden- tity. And a fine performance is gv en by Frances Helyar in the rle of Millie Owens, Madge's brainy sister. Helyar displays a full range of emotion, from ribald humor to feelings of insecurity, with intensity. Supporting acting is flawless.
