The big winner on the day was the hospital which received $5,325. «It was a great day," said Wayne Currier, chairman of the Whitby General Hospital Foun- dation. Currier said the hospital has now received "well over? *1-mil- lion ineledges. It recently recei- ved a $0,0 pledge fromn the Town and $250,000 from the hospital's auxiliary. Besides raising money through events like the tcurnament, Cur- rier noted that it raises the issue of the fundraising campaign «While every dolar count;,th importance cf an e'vent like that is it lets people kn»ow we are around. It increases the momen- tum of the campaign," said Cur- rier. Ray Gilchrist, owner and o perator of the Whitby McDonalds which sponsored the event, was asked at the dinner following golf whether hie would hold the event next year. ;He responded by asking those inattendance 4t the dinner if theyVwould play next year.
