Free Press photos ICCA September survey of inm ho me cbhild care The Ottawa-based Independent Child Caregiîvers Association (ICCA) bas ben commissioned through' Health and Welfare Canada's Childcare Initiatives Fund to conduct a province-wide study of in-home childeare. The telephone survey, developed by the ICCA research teani, will be conducted by Gallup Canada. Approximately 700 in-home child caregivers will be contacted at random during September 1989. The. anonymity of survey participants is assured. The resuits of the survey will be published early in 1990. The research wil provide information to the federal governiment and the public concerning the inds of programs and services provided by in-home child caregivers. In addition, the survey will help to identify the type of support and training that caregivers need and want. Health coimeil Catherine ililge, chairman of the Durhama Region District Health Council, recently announced the composition of council's standing committees responsible for advising the DHC on health issues in the region. Council bas four "prograra area" committees - acute care, community health, mental health and long term care and one "administrative" committee - executive - ail reporting directly to council. Membership on each committee is comprised _of a chairman who is a member of council, interested council members, and a variety of consumers and providers from the community. Membership for the year is as follows: tThe acute care committee bas te mandate to deal with issues such as acute hospital care, emergency health services, tertiary care and some primary 1' care.
