'The exhibition «Mfe Victorian Cuit of Beauty,' began Saturday at The Station Galery and wil continue until Mardi 24. The 31 works shown in the exhibition, inicluding illust- rations, prints, preIininary char- coai sketches and highly fmshed pencil studies, sculpture and oil paintings, show the civersity of stylistic influences in Victorian art. T he selection of works from the Art Gallery of Ontario collec- tion (with the exception of two works on loan from the University of Toronto) represents 15 artista and a handful of craftsmen. Among the artists representect are Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Albert Joseph Moore and George Fredrick Watts, illustratinq, to varyinK degrees, the classicist, romanti- cist, fantaisiste and realist points Of view. As stated in the guide to the exhibition, 'Mhe Victorians saw themselves as masters of a glori- ous empire.
