At least two meetings have been held between management and representatives of the Cana- dian union of Public Employees (CUYPE)., However, CUPE spokesman Jim Woodward said it was much too early to discuss negotiations. "The two parties met on a couple of occasions but we're a long way from making any com- ments,» said Woodward. Whitby's inside and outside employees are currently working undiera two-year agreement which expires March 31. Woodward preferred not to comment on union demands at this time. The previous agreement gave Town workers wage increases of 6.3 per cent and six per cent over the lià of the contract. Rossland branch expands The Roossland branch of the Whitby Public Library wil soon -double mnmme. 1The. small storefront library, iocated in the sho ping mall at the corner of Rosand and Garden, is moving into the adjoining spaoe. It will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 26. and Wednesday, Feb. 27, re-opening on Thursday, Feb. 28. The Rowsland branch, opened ini September 1989 as a temporary fadility, has proven to be tremendously popular. The branch is being expanded since pln or a new central library. to be built as part of the Civic Centre complex, have been delayed due to econoic recession.
