Urquhart drawings at gallery 'Oelseaof Ourselves: Drawig by Tony Urquhart' will be shlown at The Station Gallery in Whitby from Oct. 5to 27. The exhibition deals with the artist's travels, mainly in F'rance and Eng1and. His drawings are whii:nsical, sometimes liumourous and some- times precicus. They demonstrate his unique drafting ability and creativity. She studied with Warren Stannard at» the University of Beritish Columbia and with Laura Jaeger at the University of Western Ontario, where she completed a master of music degree in performance. Subsequently, she did advanced studies in performance with Harry Sargous, former principal oboist of the Toronto Symphony, and in performance practice and Schenker analysis with Toronto harpsichordist, pianist snd German repertoire coach Greta Kraus. Since 1982, Ellis was appointed principal oboist of the Oshawa Symphony Orchestra. As well, she has played second oboe and English hon in the Mississauga Symphony for the past several years. Ormston, -a native. of Ottawa, came te, Toronto from British Columbia where he was prnceipal clarinet of the Kamloops =ymhony Orchestra. Ormnston curntly pursues a freelance career in Toronto, performing with Opera Ora Now, The Composers' Orchestra, The Phantom of the Opera and the Toronto Symphony. In 1985, Ormston completed his bachelor of music degree in performance under the direction of Thomas Dowling. He has studied with Wesley Foster, LIN LU principal clarinet of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He currently studies with Joaquin Valdepenas, principal ciarinet oi' the Toronto Symnphony. MOTORCITV ~ISATLRNw_ NANCY BRA1THWAMf When Lu was age 16, he started bassoon lessons with the eminent Qu Lui who is the principal bassoon with Central Philharmon 'ic Society of China. In 1977,. Lu graduated from Beijing Art College and it *as at this time that he joined the Beijing Song and Dance- Ensemble as principal bassoon and as wooclwind coach. In 1981, he joined the Beijing Symphony Orchestra as principal bassoon and wood wind coach. Lu has been principal bassoon with the Oshawa Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Braithwaite received her niaster's degree in horn performance in 1985 from Ithaca College after completing post graduate studies in horn in 1983 at Koniklijk Musik Conservatorium, (Royal flernish Music Conservatory). Since 1988, Braithwaite has been principal horn of the Oshawa Synmphony Orchestra. She has also been a niember of the Niagara Symphony, Mississauga Symphony, Toronto Concert Orchestra, North York BE ISU U Symphony, East York Symiphony, ,Augusta Symnphony and, the ,Aufflst Opera Orchestra.
