Garlick recently retired as vice president and treasurer of Union Carbide of Canada and cornes to council witb an extensive background in business and accounting. He is an active member of the Durham Region-Only Waste Management Plan Public Liaison committee and was appointed as a member of the Bowmanville rnuseum board. He is an active member of council's acute care committee. McLellan cornes to council with a background in business administration and communi- cations.. He bas bis own desktop publisbing business and bas done volunteer work for the Canadien Paraplegic Association, Royal Canadien Legion, Multiple Scierosis Association,. Disability U+IAULý k. - Information Service of Canada and, for the past couple ocf years, bas been an active member of couneil's long-termn care committee. Fitzpatrick is a feniily physicien at the Oshawa cinic and was responsible for the development, of the sports medicine clinic et the Oshawa General Hospital. He bas been involved in a wide variety of committees within the hospital and the clinic, as well as the Canadien Cancer Society a.nd Durhamn House. Involvement in bis commuxuty expanded when he volunteered as a member of council's community heeltb committee last-ear. The District Health Council is a voluntary, community heelth care planning body, appointed-by Cabinet to provide advice to the Minister of Health. Council deals with the identification Of needs, establishments of short- and long-terni priorities and co-ordination of planning for the effective end effcient develop- ment of heelth care services in Durham Region.
