David Wall was running second at the tume in the two way race. The 45 year-old works as an executive assistant to MPP Steve Mahoney. In ber campaign, Longfield said she would try to bring the people's views to council. She also said she would encourage residents te get invol- ved with the local government. She suggested a 'how te' book- let to bel p facilitate the resi- dents' involvement. The resident of Whitby for the past 20 years is not in favor of a councillor setting bis/ber salary. To ease and disrbute the tax burden more fairly in Wbitby, Longfield said she would try for a balance between industrial commercial and residentiaf assessment. She said residents are being overtaxed too mucb.
