With the threat of a court injunction being invoked againat hlowner Art Robinson, a local binessman, had the rusting boat towed out of the harbour. Tis flnally bogta end te long-runmingdiputebetween not only Robinson and the Town, but which 419o involved the pro- vincial and federal governients. Whitby officials tried to force its removal soon after the boat's arrivai but were thwarted in their efforts by the federal government. Ini 1990, oil was discovered leaking from the ferry and rather than risk a PCB sp1l, federal environment officiaIs ordered Robinson te dlean up the boat. This thon- led te a prolonged wrangle between Ottawa and Qu een's Park of where te dispose of the POBaÉ safely. Whitby Hydro eventually camne te the rescue and agreed te store Robinson's PCBs at its Taunton Rd. storage site. With that groblem rectified, the courts ha~ no 'ifiltein ordering the feruzr's removal. Although Whitb was finally rid of the boat, te 77-year-old Prince Edward Island is still casng problems.
