OB:)ITIARIES PAT APPLETON Edward James (Pat) Appleon of -Brooklin died at Whitbj General Hospital on December 9 1992. He was 56. He was born in Pickering, Ont. on February 5, 1936, son of Charles and Jane (Jean) (McGinn) Appleton. PAT APPLETON He married Elizabeth Ann (Betty Ann) Carman on May 25, 1963 in Whitby. Mr. Appleton worktd at Luther Vîpond Memorial Arena in Brooklîn. Ho had been pro- viously employed at Firestone (Dunlop) Tire. Referred te as tho 'Bi g Guy' by his friends, ho was well-iiked for his pleasant manner and humour and was weli-known for his one- liners. During the evening of the day of his death, rep hockey teams wore black arm bands with Patty's name on them. He was a member of St. Mark's United Church and 100F Beethoven in Brookiin. He is survived by his wife, son ýPobert, in-laws Anne (Carman) and Ron Norris, brothers Andrew of Port Perry and William, of Whitby, sisters Sue (Mrs. Sol- lows) of Langley, B.C. and Dorothy of Witby. Ho was predeceased by bis parents and father-in-law John Carman. Ho rested at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel. The funeral ser- vice was heid at St. Mark's United Church on December 12, 1992. Cremation. Interment at Union cemetery, Oshawa. BETH[EAAGG Bethea Carswell Agg of Whitby, former deputy registrar of Supreme and Courth Court, died on January 19, 1993 at Whitbr General Hospital. She She was born in Renfrew, Ont. on September 17, 1906, daughter of William and Deborah (Proctor) Cardiff. She married Ronald William Agg in Ottawa in 1941. A Whitby resident for more than 50 years she was a member of St . Mark's U.nited Church, the Whitby Seniors' Activityý Centre and Whitby Chapter 24 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She 15 survived by daughter Bonnie Marie McDonaid of Mid- land. She was predeceased by her husband and~ sister Anna Cardiff. The funeral service was held from the W.C. Town Funeral Chan~el on Friday, January 22, 1993, Jeanette Milfer conducting. Just after midnigh t, two black maies wearing balaclavas entered Gino's Pizza at 750 Oklahoma Dr. One of the suspects produced a silver handgun from his waistband and toid the store empleyee te move his hand se that ho could get behind the counter. Both robbers then went behind the counter. The armed suspect toid the victim te, open the cash register. The empioyee hesistated and the suspect teld him te hurry up or he would biow off his head. The second suspect went te the back of the store and brought another employee out te the front. The armed suspect thon emptied the cash into a green plastic shopping bag. The suspects thon fled on foot, northbound, towards the field at Fairport Beach public schooi. Suspect #1 is described as maIe, black, aged 16 te 17, 5-ft. 6-i., with a medium build. He was wearing a black, hooded sweater, black pants and a black balaclava with openings for eyes. This suspect was armed with a amali, silvor handgun with dark red handgrips. Suspect #2 is maie, black, aged 16 te 17, 5-ft. 6-i, with a slim buiid. He was wearing a white sweatshirt and a black balaclava.
