The former Scottish Bake Shop was reopened in September 1988 as the Old Country Tearoom. Kathy McCrory and Diane Raynr are owners of the restaurant whch serves the special needs of the many Scottish, Irish and British residents of Durham. When Kathy first took' over the Scottish Bake Shop, it was ber intention to change the format somewhat se, the restaurant served customers who enjoyed Canadian foods as well. The specialty restaurant features imported candy from Britain as well as homemade Scottish meats and puddings. In addition te items sold froni the 'old country,' fresh breads and pastries are baked right here in the restaurant. "Everything is homemade, nothing in here is store bought, it's made from scratch," says Kathy McCrory.
