Making their mark for Whitby with two goals apiece were Stephanie Campeau, Rabynn Dupont and iffany Jones. Amy Challoner added a single. Carnpeau and Dupont each added an assist, Jillian Crate had two assiste, and Erin Harvey had three assists. Whitby thon lost to Pickering 7-6, goals coming from Dupont (two), Campeau, Christina Baldassi, Crate and Harvey. Assiste went te Crate (two), Baldassi, Challoner, Campeau and Danielle Glover. Whitby took an early Iead when they met Port Perry but could not hold on and lost 5-2. Goals were by Jones and Dupont and an assist from Crate. Whitby entered the Pickering tournanient on Valentines weekend. The players worked valiantly, despite several members being iii ail weekend, and kept the scores close. Whitby opened against the Pickering tween C teani and lost 4-2 on goals by Natalie Babony and Sara Meaney with assists from Dupont and Crate. Whitby petite B2 met Wihitby Bi and lost 8-6. Jones scored three goals, Dupont two and Glover one. Meaney had three assists, Challoner two and Dupont, Harvey and Campeau singles. WMhy met Pickering petites and lost 4-1, Harvey bagging the only Whiàtby goal. The squad posted an opening gaine win over Oshawa 9-2. In the second gante, Whitby carne out flying, posting a No a Nvices beaten in B final The Whitby TD Bank majr novice selects were B finalists in the Wonderland tournament on the weekend. In the flrst game, a close contest against Chinguacousy, the score was tied 3-3 until Sean Brackin scored in an empty net on a pass from J. P. Galipeault. Other Whitby goals were by Galipeault (two) on assists from Bryan Mantie and Carl D'Carlo. Brackin also had two, with an assist &com Kurtis Lindeil. MVP was Matthew Redshaw. Whitby then played a hard- fought gaine against Weston, losing 5-3. Whitby goals were by Sean Thorndyke assisted by Matthew Graham and Rob Muir; Brackin, assisted by Elliott Fitzsimmons; Galipeault, assisted by Shane I-ealy and« Elliott Fitzsimmons. The gaine MVP was Chris Foxwell. After this loss, Whitby was in the B championship, and lost te Bowmanville 3-1. Whitby's lone goal was delivered by Matthew Grahami on an assist from Thorndyke. Graham received the game MVP award. In North York league play, Whitby lost to Victoria Village 7-2. Whitby goals were by Brackin, assisted by Graham, and Kyle Limkilde, assisted by Muir and Brackin. Andso Durham Region high school teams are invited to participate in a 3-on-3 basketball tourna- ment at Anderson CVI on March 6. A maximum of 20 teams can compote in the event to be pro- sented by Anderson and Wilfrid Laurier University. The event is beingr organized by Trevor Demeris and Christina Schmiegelow, Anderson gra- duates who are now mn their second years at Laurier. They organized the tourna- ment as part of their physical education administration course. The tournament entry -fee is $30 per team, with a free T-shirt for each participant. There will oe prizes for the top teains. Registration forms can be obtained from Mr. Phillips at Anderson CVI (668-5809) or from physical education departments decisive 9-3 victorY over Ajax. Whitby advanced te the final against a strong Pickering team. VWtby jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead that woke up the Pickering side. Pickering battled back, cutting Whiitby's lead te 6-4 entering the final period. Strong forechecking sealed the gante for Whitby, with the final score 9-4. Elaine St. Onge recorded two wins in nets with Codie Horwood collecting one.
