Although not a member of any group represented at the meet- ing, whitby resident Kimberly Osbora also attended. She and husband Shane are "concerned citizens» ýupset with the way "pornographic" material is displayed in some stores, Osborn said. She cited three local businesses -- two video stores and a convenience strere -- as examples. Osborn finds fault with the Movie Shop outlets in the West Lynde Plaza on Dundas St. and at 701 Rossland Rd. E. "They (management) say they're out of reach of children, but we've seen kids looking at them. Ail they have to do is look Up. Suggestions of covering up the videos or moving them to a re- stricted area generaily fall on deaf ears, Osborn said. 'They (owners) say they can't afford to make another section or it won't seil if it's covered up," she said. «They don't care about the customners, just money." Osborn also criticized the Canaan Food Fair on White Oaks Ct. "They have a case (of video tapes) right an the couniter which shows exp.-cit stuff like women engaged in lesbian sex," she said. As for magazines, Osborn said they are kept in a rack over the freezér, about flive ft. off the floor. "Most of the magazines are a anst women, some are violent. You have to see it to believe it." However, Goonja Son, owner of Canaan Food Fair, said she is not doing anything wrong. Son, who has operated the variety store for 10 years with her husband (who she would not identify) said no one had com- plained about the store until now. While most of the videos are kept on the top sheif in a back section of her store (in the same room as bottled soft drinks), the tapes are visible. 'Kids can't reach up," said Son, who also pointed out that the aduit magazines are placed behind the 'non-offensive ones on the rack. "N4obody's complained, the police have no complaints," she added.
