And how could it not be, what wth Sexuel Assault Awareness Day, an informative teen voluntaering workshop, student council elections, Grad Week, Prom Night and Music Night. Where ta begin, where ta hegin.. On Tuesday, May 25, each and every individual at Henry had the opportunity ta baan the facts about sexuni assault. With the help of many informative guest speakers, aur eyes were opened to a very roal problem. Ouest speakers came from a wide range of backgrounds and careers in the hope Of enlightaning us and they certainly did. Francine Nicholas mnade many cry as she reflected on her hori-andous experience. She made ail of us, maies and femnales, realizo that saxual assault and abuse can happen ta them. Kathleen Masan, campus safety education officer, U of T rolatod the problems that face us at our future colleges and universities and the security measures that are being instigated. Each and every guest speaker shauld know that they've helped the people at Henry see the truth and helpad us realize that sexual assault can no longer ha telerated. On Monday, student council kicked off tha annual Grad Week. The purpose of Grad Week te Grade 9 and 10 students may seem a little odd, but to those Hawks who are leaving Henry, it's time well spent. The student council arranged a huge hundla of activities for the entire week, such as teacher/student tug-a-war, fr-e barbecue, 'Teacher Dress Down Day' and, vis, even a 'pie-in-your-eye' contest. As woll, tl'-,oughout the woek, any grad could purchase his or her very own graduating 'T' for just $10. The shirt sparts the unique phrase, 'I go ta Henry Street HiEgh School ... well, not anymore... Henry grads of 1993.' And while we're on the topic of studont caunicil (wail, sort of), I should mention the elections for next yeaars positions. This year'a electians played hast te 14 determinaçi nominees. Each persan gave a quick speech and used some of the wierdest things anyona could imagine ta get some votes. La the end, the student body dacided on Jennifer Stein as next year's tep Hawk. However, the money next year will be Viki Sharma, as he was elected treasurer. The other nominee was Uàsa Chambers. Congrats to everyone involved for their great speeches and unique posters. This year's highly-rated Music Night was held on May 26. Crowds of music loyers, parents and students alike gathered in Heniy's cafetorium to be delighted and entertained.
