The Aniderson Street resident embarks on a cross-country plane trip today that. will take him to every province in Canada during the next six days. Especially pleasing for Kiehne is that ever le of the apprexi- mately 6,000-mile journoy will be fiown on aircraft built by de Havilland, Kiehne's employer until his retirement in 1983. "I was neyer able te fiy (pilot) any aircraft I built or worked on, se a few years ago I decided te see if I ceuld fly de Havlland (as a passenger> across the country," Kîehne told The Free Press prier te departing for St. John's, Nfld. on Monday. "I found it was possible te fiy from Newfoundland te Thunder Bay in de Havilland aircraft but there was ne way to get te Winnipeg frem Thunder Bay," he explainedt. Se with the help of Paul Zic- carelli, manager of Marlin Travel agency in Osh awa, Kiehne char- ted a course that weuld make use of regional airlines te ensure that the entire trip is made on de Havilland planes, using regular fliihts and not charters. "We worked it eut se it was possible te fiy frem ene coast te the other " said Klehne. "'The whiole flight is being done on scheduled airlines with Cana- dian-built aircraft," he preudly noted. After spending two days on Prince Edward Island with daughter Derethy and her fam- ily, Kiehne liles back te Halifax and from there te Fredericton, Saint John, and Montroal. Marie, Thunder Bay, Winni- peg, Regina and Calgary, befere arriving in Vancouver next Tues- dahere Kiehno wilI be met by his brothers Rudy and Vern, who wilI drive hlm te Ceal Harbour, B.C. for the final leg of his trip. The team, sponsored. by Dundas Centre Guardian Drugs and Fcllett's Trade Bindery, has three wins and a less in first division action. The Wolveines hosted their division rivaIs from Pickering on May 27 in a very physical match. Whitby opened the scerng in the eighth minute wheza Graham Macean found the back of the Pickering net following a pass from Jason Evelyn. Pickering added two of their own goals before Kevin Taylor evened the scoring in the l7th minute. Whitby added one more from Bartluis Barrera and another frem Macean before Pickering countered with another two on the small Jeffory Park field for a half-time tde of 4-4. Dion Warren shot the Wolveines into the lead early in the second haîf but an unrelenting Pickering side came back once again te tie the gaine.
