Now, more than ever, when deciding to take a vacation outside Canada, travellers need to make sure they have insurance to cover the gaps left by reduced provincial coverages. Previously, if you travelled outside the country a nd h ad a n accident, most provincial health plans would pay for your care -- as lonrg as it was a covered service. However, provinces have made considerable I - i For ex ample, '"W W W Ontario will now only pay $400 a day for hospital care. However, the average cost of a day in a Florida hospital is close to $2000. Without additional insurance this could be a ver expensive vacation. A car accident, a mishap on the tennis court or faîl on slippery pavement could land the traveller in the hospital for an extended, and f inancially disastrous stay. If you cheap out now or buy a package that isn't suitable for your needs, you cou Id pay de arly later. There are many different policies on the market which exclude certain coverages, the most common being pre-existing conditions. In addition there are many places selling travel insurance such as banks and travel agencies who are not insurance prof essionals and do not completely understand each type of policy. This can becomne very confusing for travellers. It makes sense to spend a couple of minutes with a broker at D.l.S. Insurance to select the right policy before heading south-i 701 ROSSLAND RD. E.
