Whitby had taken the first gamei of the amries by a score of 8-2 in Peterborough. Game two, which was viewed as the critical game of the series, was playd in Whitby on Monday last week. A cautious first period saw niany swings in advantage but Peterborough was able to'break out on top and finish the period UP 1-0. Period two saw Whitby begin to take the play to the opposition. Superior skating and aggressive play was rewarded with two goals. The first goal came from Blaine Down on passes from Judd Stevenson and Jeff Frazer. Goal two came once again from the stick of Down, this time from passes by Bobby McBride and Robert Lalonde. Whitby was able to add two more goals in thfe third period, compared to only one by Peterborough, and the gaine ended 4-2, and a 2-0 series lead. Goal-scorers in the third were Down and Frazer, with assists going to Jeremy Fisher and Down. Justin Zammit was outstanding in net. Gaine three, which proved ta be the series winner, was exciting from beginning ta end. Peterborough jumped out ta an early 2-0 lead but the hometown teain fought back with hard work and discipline ta earn a 4-3 victory. Scorers for Whitby were David Morasse with two, Stevenson and Kyle Branch each added singles. Assists went ta Stevenson (three) and Branch (two). Whitby now awaits the winner of the series between Burlington and St. Catharines.
