On Friday against Newmarket for gaine one of the series, Whitby lost 4-1. The Rat Pack scored late in the second period when James Simpson sent Sean Pitcher in alone on a breakaway. Whitby bost gaine two 6-4. Newmarket pressured the Whiitby goal relentlessly froin the start, scoring two goals late in the flrst period. The Rat Pack fought back te within one, when Justin Hawe converted a nice play from. Pitcher and Jamie Millage. Newmarket tock a 4-1 lead midway through the second, but the Pack came back again when Pitcher knotted an unassisted goal. Newmarket scored again, and the second period ended 5-2 in favour of Newrnarket. In the third, Hawe converted a Pitcher rebound te make the score 5-3. Nineteen seconds later Wade Branch brought Whiùtby te, within one on a nîce Kevin Walsh pass froin the face-off. With time running out, Whitby pulled goaltender Kyle Nova in favour of a sixth attacker. With only a few seconds left in the gaine, Newmarket was able to clear the zone and score an empty-netter te take the gaine 6-4 and also the series. After five playoff series and 15 gaines, the Rat Pack's playoff season is over. TOURNAMENT The Rat Pack competed in a March break tournainent in Stouffville last week, winning two and tying one of their three gaines. The flrst gaine of the series saw Whitby defeat Aurora 5-4. Aurora opened the scoring early in the-second with twogols. only an unaasisted grc>el le.s than an minute later. Befoe the period ended, Whitby tied the score with Branch and Pitcher setting up Hawe for the equa]izer. The third period was also wide opnand Whitby took a two-goal ledon goals fromn Kevin Walsh and Hawe. Aurora rallied to tie the score late in the third, but Andrew Lamiot notched the gane- winner on a three-way eassng play froin Branch and Brandon Fowler. I gaine two, Whitby blanked Caledon 7-0.
