Signs of spring are indicating a long, cold winter is almost behind us, bringing us closer to occupancy in Durham's newest high school, Sinclair Secondary, currently under construction on Taunton Road at Anderson Street. Staff are hopeful that by mid- to late June offices and classrooms will be ready for the move, Co begin the set-up for what promises te be an exciting first year. But who will be the occupants of this 190,000 square foot facility? By early April, the annouricement will b. made. Sinclair, the home of the No Name, will take on a new identiity, with school colours and a distinguishing logo that will promote our teams not only on the walls of the school gym, but throughout the Whitby community as Sinclair students r compete on the fields, ini the pool, on the. ioe -- wherever Sinclair students want to demonstrate their skills and expertise. School sportswear will be available to students through the school store as early as late August -- the latest in plaid boxers, hats, Ta and sweats. Recently joining the skeletal staff of Sinclair is AI Bender, head of technological studies. AI is workcing wvith staff te develop the hands-on umita that will make up the math-science- technology package of the integrated curriculum. Students will experience learning -- learning by experience. Imagine yourself building that bridge, having plotted the angles and mani- pu1ated the geoenetric concepts in your math classes. Scientific applications will test the bridge for strength and load capacities.
