Carried Candidates debate the issues next Wednesday A municipal election forum will be held at the Whitby muni- cipal building on Wednesday, Nov. 2, starting at 7 p.m. The forum is for Town council and Whitby Hydro Electric Com- mission candidates. Each candidate will be given an opportunity to express their views and challenge opponents' declarations. The forum is being organized by the Whitby Junior Chamber of Commerce/Jaycees. 60-day jail term for drug possession A 30-year-old Whitby man received a 60-day jail term and six months probation after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a narcotic. Kelvin~Mask was sentenced in court in Whitby on Friday. • He had been charged after an incident Oct. 21, 1992 at 100 White Oaks Ct. in Whitby. The Durham Regional Police drug squad was executing a search warrant at an apartment at White Oaks, and as they approached, a man fled the building. The man, when confronted, kicked a police offlicer and esca- ped. He later turned himself in to police. Policd seized a loaded shotgun and about $2,700 worth of drugs in the apartment. Mask was originally charged with possession of a narcotic for the purposes of trafficking, pos- session of narcotics, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, posses- sion of weapons dangerous assaulting a police officer ana assaulting a police officer with intention to resist arrest.
