To get there, Whitby defeated Richmond Hill in an overtime shootout. Wildcats got on the board first with a goal by Graham Knox, assisted by Thomas Farquharson. With the strong defence of Paddy Kelly, Cameron Langlois, Kevin Lomax, Jason Michie, Mathew Race and Tanner Twining, Wildcats held Richmond Hill at bay until the tying goal in the final seconds of the game. In overtime and a five-man shootout, goals were scored by Wildcats Derek Rayner, Aaron MacMurray and Knox. Kyle Simpson only allowed one goal te give Whitby the win they needed te advance te the semi-finals against Orangeville, who had beaten Whitby 5-0 earlier in the tournament. With minutes left in the semi-final game, Orangeville scored the only goal te eliminate Whitby. Between games, MacMurray represented Whitby in the tournament shootout competition in which he faced semi-pro goalie Pete Richard. MacMurray beat Richard three times te finish first.
