One of these will go te Cindy Miller of Whitby, an Anderson CVI graduate who plays basketball while studying. arts and administration. Athletic director David Stewart made the announcement at the college's annual schlarship ceremony. The newv recipients bring the total number of student-athietes on schlarship to 53, including athletes already on scholarship from previous years who have successfully maintained ail selection criteria. The Durhamn College athletic department ' awards athletic schlarships in seven- sports: basketball (men's and women's) volleyball (men's and women's) soccer (men's and womnens) and women'asosftball. The value of each scholarship is $800 (basketball and volleKball) and $500 (soccer and softbail) each year the student athiete attends Durham College and successfully meets the selection criteria. A student athiete mnust be a member of the varsity teain and ,must maintain a 2.0 overali grade pint average te receive the sholarship. "The bottomlime is, no marks, no acholarship," says athletic director Dave Stewart. Terriers alone in lst The Whitby Tormina Terriers continued their successful indoor soccer season with a narrow 5-4 victory over Pickering Power. The win gave Whitby sole possession of first place in the boys representative under-14 division. Terriers, proînoted froin the Durbain Tier 1 league which they doninated Iast season, continue to, demonstrate that they will ho a force te hoe reckoned with in representative soccer. Grahamn MacLean had five goals. There were strong performances by Jim Roufos, AMain Moînar, Chris Comacho and Matt Geofroy. In four gaines, Terriers have outscored the opposition 41-7. The score stayed that way until the third period with both goaltenders making spectacular saves. Mclhone, the eventual gaine star, scored bis second of the gaine off a pass froin Henry to give Whitby a 2-0 lead. Melntyre and Greer provided the icing on the cake and a 4-0 final. Whitby took a 2-0 lead on goals by Robert Eberle and Jeremi Brimble. Great defensive work by Karen Farquharson and solid backchecking by aIl three forward lines helped preserve the lead. In the next period Eberle scored bis second goal of the game on a breakaway.
