Austin Catholic Secondary School. "I was just conipletely amazed that a group aroun d here was gongt put it on." WIritten in 1986 by Tim Rice (who had a hand in the music numbers in Disney's 'Aladdin') and pop group ABBA's Benny Andersson an d Bjorn Ulvaeus 'Chess' was about the worid chess title match hotween Ameni- can Bobbie Fischer and Russian master Bonis Spassky. lonles a Russian chess guru, Anatoy, played by Dashney. A theatre-lover for meet of hie life, Dashney started his acting/ singing career with numerous musical productions in high school. "Certainly, drama and teach- ing complement each other very well as far as performance, and since I teach drama as well. But I think they're very much rela- ted," says the teacher at G.L. Roberts CVI in Oshawa. Since the beginning of his teaching career, Dashney has found very little time te pursue his performing interests.
