"The health and well-beingof children, youth and young families requires the active involvement of our whoie province in supporting parents and communities and ini moving ta a better future through strategie investments in eidren and youth," White said. White wants to put on public record the important contribution that publicly-funded comniunity agencies have already made in addressing the needs of familles and of children. "The work of our cornrunity agencies bas created a btter environment that is less violent and far more humane and equitable than any other in North Anierica," White. said. "The involvement of community agencies will be essential in orienting us towards a positive future. I hope my resolution will talk about education and social issues from a positive frame rather than the cut-and-slash approach that is now franiing the federal government's review of social programs," White said. White, who worked niany years as a social worker with family services agencies, said "this is. a period of uncertainty regarding social policy during which the federal government's review is being framed with foreboding.» The blight of child poverty has worsened wýith federal neglect over the past two decades. "Rather we must work te arneliorate child poverty and farnily violence by building upon The.high quality of our public services."
