The two recall saring- weekend gige with Bird in 'the late 1970s at what was thon 'Constantines' in the Bond Towers. Jesse Stewart, the youngest of the group, bas been collaborating musically with Bird in Guelph recently. Don Stewart says the original duo hung up their guitares hortly after theïr first folk festival appearances in 1979, "just when the accoustic sound was entering a down period and Dave's career took him out west."1 After McCauley's return from the west, the duo again got together and then added Jesse Stewares prussion to their sound. In the l1sttwo years they have produced a demo tape in a Richmond ill studio and performed at several Toronto locations including the Free Times Cafe which Stewart describes as being "as important to the current folk scene as Yorkvilles Riverboat was te an earlier generation."9 The trio usualy perormeaa ix of songs by singer-songwriters they admire most as welI as some 0f )on's original material. Don Stewart notes that fundraising for a publicly funded scLr hool can be a bit touchy.
