Cometitors are expected to corne from the northern US., fom across Ontario and Quebec. «TheY're coming from ail over,» says Rob- Carson of Brookhn, committee chair for the event. Contestants may also enter four-wheel-drive modified truck and two-wheel-drive modified truck categories. The light and heavy pro-stock tractor category will not be offered this year. The tractors and trucks wiII be hooked up te the weight transfer sled supphd by Don Alves. Alves has 'Zken hie sled, which he built, to other competitions aIl over Ontario and Quebec -- it ia the only self-propelled sled ini Canada. Te tracters are meant to pull the sled as far as they can; a "full pull" gives entrants the opportunity te. compete again. Weight ia added on te the sled for the remauning participants and whoever goes farthest wins the prize money ($6,000 available). «Without the heavy and light classes, i expect probably 25 to, 30 entries,'" says Carson. Most of the tractors and trucks that compete are extrernely powerful, but Carson feels the multi-engine class iathe most popular. «They have two,the and four engines, and each engine can have 1,500 te 2,000 horsepower." The ull, one of the best-attended events of the fair, will be heldon Friday, June 2, 7:30 p.m., and is sponsored by OId Mil Hardware, Snap-On Toola, Glen Middieton Mechanicai Repaira and Kendal 011.
