Whltby Free Press Show award <fior Whitby arist By Mark Reesor Whitby artist Sean McQuay won the best painting award at a prestigiousjiniied outdoor art show in Toronto recently. McQuay, .one of 500 artists exhibiting work in a variety of medias at the 34th annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, won the $500 award for a display of 42 of bis paintings. He says the judges especially liked bis 'walking' paintings, in which ho goes -for a walk and paints at specifie, timed intervals, part of the "ground cover series" of paintings he exhibited at The Station Gallery in Whitby last faîl. The outdoor show, which is held in mid-July at Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square, "is Toronto's largest group exhibition," says McQuay.
