We hiave bulit a relJutaion of quality care through the hiring of quality staff. We offer active rehabilitation programs and emphasize education and prevention. Through this phi losophy we continue to grow and inake changes to better serve our patients, past and future. Alex MacCulloch and staff are excited to annourice the hiring of Shirley Magee. Ms. Magee is a rhysio- therapy graduate of Queen's University and a former resident of Whitby. Prior to accepting the position at Brock Physiotherapy and Athletic Injury Centre Ms. Magee was ernployed in an Edmonton private physiotherapy clinic. She bnings to her new position experience and wealth (if post graduate training in orthopaedics. Ms. Magee looks forward to providing physiotherapy services to the residents of Durham. With he addition of Ms. Magee the Brock clinic is now able to share the saine hours as the Baywood Physiotherapy and Athletic Injury Centre, being Mon.-Fri. from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. These expanded hours offer the necessary flexibility to commuters and further serve to eliminate oLIr waiting lists. Scientific researchi clearly demonstrates a faster recovery from injury with early intervention and we are pleased to be able to offer same day assessment and treatment at both faci lities. Physiotherapy i n a.pri vate setti ng has not been covered by 01-1W since 1965, hence our clinie, like the majority of clinics, rely on alternative billing methods. Our services are covered by extended health insurance plans, motor vehicle accident insurance, schiool insurance policies for dependents. DVA and WCB. A doctor's referral is not required for treatment by a physiotherapist. At both of our facilities we work in close conjunction with physicians and believe if physiotherapy is deemed necessary the patient should sec their family doctor. It lias also corne to the attention to many registered physiotherapists in ilis area that physiotherapy related activities are being carried out by non physiotherapists in poorly supervised settings. Unfortunaely in these seings the patients often believe that the therapist is a physiotherapy professional. This is both potentially dangeroLîs o the patient and very damaging to our profession. If you question the professional status of thie staff or the clinic you are heing treated in, please caîl the Ontario College of Physiothiera,.py ai (416) 591-3828 and v'erif'y your therapist is registered.
