The inauguiral meeting of the board of directors of the Down- town Business Improvement Area (DBIA) was held last week. Hobby" store owner Paul Savage was elected board chair and Doug Anderson, publisher of the Whitby Free Press,- vice- chair. 'Other directors elected in last month's vote by the DBIA mem- bership are Williami Brant, Kerry Kirby, Linda Peacock Pat Per- kins nd Narendra Setlii. Although no major initiatives are planned at this time Ander- son. promised that al board meetings will be open te the public. A general membershi meeting is tentatively planned -or Marc h 1, Anderson said. Joyride on bulldozer A 25-yarold Oshawa man was arrese and charged early Sunday morning after taking a joyide on a bulldozer. Police called te the Dryden Road and Bakerville Street (east of Thickson Road) area saw a man driving a large bulldozer down the middle of t he road. The man put the blade down and drove teward the officer, who moved his car out of the way, managed te board the machine and ordered the man, who showed signs of impairment, out of the cab. A 25-year-old Ritson Road South man was charged with possession of stelen property ovr$1,000, impaired driving and blowing over .080.
