The Whitby novice C2 ringeite team waa third overali ln 'the Scarborough tournament over the weekend. In the first game, Rosanne Cannella scored her firat goal of the season, Kelly Schad scored twioe and Megan Hurst and Sarah Quesnelle. each added one ln Whitby's 5-3 win over host Scarborough. Thanks to. outstanding goaltending by Carleigh Taggart and effective penalty-killing limes, Whitby managed a 6-5 win over Richmnond Hill. Kristen Millar and Schad each scored twice, with QuesnelleÃ" and Ashley Taylor each adding singles. Pickering handed Whitby their only bass of the tournament, 6-3, with Candice Cattafi, Millar and Schad each scoring for Whitby. Whitby needed a win to advanoe to the tournament finals, but tied Richmond Hill 5-5. Schad had four goals, Millar the other. Carleigh Taggart in net made numerous spectacular saves throughout the tournament. Pamela Dyall, Alison Gallea, Jaclyn Game and Amber Kelly provided strong defensive play. An outstanding teain froin Cambridge, the eventual tournament champions, defeated Whitby 9-2. The fourth encounter waa againat Waterloo with the result a 12-6 boss. Tournament goab-scoring for Whitby was led by Melanie Davis with seven, Jennifer Cassidy three, Jullian Shannon two, and singles te Christina Baldasti, Loi Barchard, Sarah Larocque, Karyn Peacocke and Cynthia Whabey.. Assista were led by Davis with five; Cassidy, Peacocke, Whabey and Andrea Perry with three each, Larocque and Haybey Milard a pair each, and singlea te Baldasti, goaltender Hurst, Shannon and Callie Osborne. The team's coach la John Caaaidy, assistant coaches Chuck Millard, Steve Hurat and Betty Larocque. In regular beague pbayr on Dec. 6, Whitby defeated Pickering 8-5. Davis scored three, Baldasti and Shannon a pair each and the single by Cassidy. Unbeaten in Bunnyfest The Whitby bunnies #3 ringette teani, sponsored by Ian Martin Ltd., won aIl three games they played in the Scarborough Bunnyfeat tournament Dec. 9 and. 10. Whitby defeated Ajax major bunnies 7-3, the Ajax minor #1 team 5-0 and the Ajax minor #2 teain 7-1. Scoring goals for Whitby were Katie Scott with four and an assist, Katie fllot three goals and two assista, Leah Dolinaki three goals and -two assista, Rachel Matsumura two goals and two assista, Rachel Broderick two goals, Kiista Keberer two goals and an assiat, Julie MacKillop a goal and three assista, Cassandra Abel and Kaila Janssen each a goal and two assista -and Kelsey Gallant with an assist., Keberer got-the shutout, Scott and Gallant also provided solid goaltending, Tanya Cunningham and Hanna Schad contributed to the wins. This year's team is coached by Stephen Abel and assisted by Sue Keberer and Steve Illot.
